   Yeah talk about a waste of money right. I have 2 because I have a great room for my daughter NEVER AGAIN!

   Spend a little more and get a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier. Ours is a Sunbeam brand and I think as quiet and much easier to clean than the cheapo variety that you described. It also creates a very fine mist that leaves a wet spot on the carpet.
